Hockey Showcase 9-10 March in Bremen – Germany

GUTS partners with German partners Sport-Scholarships and Uniexperts who will hold its 4th annual Field Hockey College-Showcase in Bremen/Germany on March 9-10, 2017.

The 4th edition of this showcase event 9-10 March! As last year, we’ll join forces with uniexperts and GUTS to bring the best German and Dutch talents together to be scouted on one weekend. We expect 15-25 players for our next event.

As you probably know, we carefully choose the participants and make sure that they’ve the necessary academic and athletic level in order to become eligible & successful college players. This is why every US coach talked to several players at the end of last year’s event in order to recruit them for their teams. The GUTS staff will assist with all aspects of the recruiting and enrolment process during the event and the following months, of course.

On this weekend in March, the player evaluation will consist of several training drills and two games. This will usually give you a sound idea of the players’ individual personalities, strengths and weaknesses. The athletic part of the showcase will be run by head coach Martin Schultze again, one of the most successful European field hockey coaches, a multiple Euro League winner of the recent years.

In addition to the practices and games, we’ll hold an information session with the coaches, players and their parents on Friday evening. The organizers staff will outline the necessary steps to take during the recruiting, admissions and NCAA registration process. The players and parents will also learn about what coaches look for and how to compare the different programs in the US. This will lay a good groundwork for the recruiting talks on Saturday (after the players’ release from their teams).

The showcase itself will start on Friday afternoon at the great facilities of the Bremer Hockey Club, where we’ll also have dinner. On Saturday, we’ll start at 10am with another game, the talks of the players and coaches will begin after the end of the showcase and some lunch. After we finish in the early afternoon, we’ll offer you some sightseeing or you can head off to see some more club games on e.g. Sunday.

For US coaches, the participation in the showcase itself is for free. It won’t cost you anything when you make your own travel arrangements etc. We offer you a weekend package to make this trip easier and very cost effective for you. We offer to pick you up and drop you off either at the airport or train station in Bremen (Friday – Saturday/Sunday). We’ll take care of your room (nice 4-star hotel) and board (local specialty restaurant incl.) for the entire time of your stay. This way, you’d only need to get a plane ticket to Germany then. The price for the complete event package is 300US$ per person then. The value that you’ll receive is higher, we just ask you to contribute to some of the cost. You can let us know whether you’d like to take advantage of this package in the registration form.
