Go USA Hockey Showcase 2017 in Deventer, the Netherlands

GUTS has developed a great reputation for providing high level athletes to American high school and college teams and we are ready to host our first premium field hockey showcase on the 4th of June 2017.  Our exposure showcases are in high demand for both players and US coaches, and we are truly looking forward to hosting these exciting events. Former Dutch field hockey prospects were placed at all levels in the US, e.g. at Delaware, Syracuse, Maryland, Columbia, Northwestern, Colby, St. Michael’s College, Shippensburg.

This year’s showcase will be held at Hockey D.H.V. in Deventer, the Netherlands. This venue is easily accessible by public transport. Please note that the showcase is recommended for both current GUTS clients as well as others: female players born in 1996 – 2002 regardless of field hockey and academic level are welcome to participate.

What is a GUTS showcase?

The GUTS showcase gives players from all over Europe the unique opportunity to experience American style clinics and to play games which will be recorded on video and livestreamed to US coaches. It is a great way to show field hockey abilities, get evaluated by US field hockey standards and to get recruited by US coaches looking for talent from Europe. Many coaches from renowned American colleges/universities as well as high schools will be viewing the showcase with one thing in common – they want to recruit talented players for their field hockey team in the US!

Additionally, this is our chance to assess you for US college level field hockey. After watching you play, you will get a personal evaluation from an experienced former elite US college field hockey coach.

Showcase coach

During the event, US top coach Kerry De Vries will hold training camps, drills and games. See Coach De Vries’ bio below. The players’ hockey techniques, skills, and overall game will be evaluated by Coach De Vries. She will be assisted by several Dutch players who have extensive experience with playing in college in the US.

Players and parents attending will receive information from GUTS directors Mark Schuurman and Marina Meijer about the US education and athletic system and steps needed to get into a US field hockey team (testing, eligibility etc.). 

What is included?

• Practice sessions and games
• Online access to footage of the day
• Written evaluation on the player’s performance and level
• Presentation about varsity field hockey. Topics include regulatory and licensing issues, training conditions and facilities, the process of becoming a student-athlete in the US, athletic and academic levels, and life in general at college in the US
• Opportunity to personally meet (players and parents) with GUTS’ educational consultant Marina Meijer and sports consultant Mark Schuurman
• Lunch, drinks and snacks

Registration

Registration is online only and the fee for players is as follows:
* Current GUTS clients: 100 euros
* Non-GUTS clients: 375 euros
